Boston made top of the line banjo by the competitor of the Fairbanks Company, William Cole, built midway through the 1890s. This banjo features highly engraved mother of pearl inlays all over the peghead and fingerboard including butterfly at the fifth fret and continuous pearl through the last seven frets. The mahogany neck, is bound and the heel is delicately carved. The standard size rim is bound in ivoroid and is fitted with cobra hooks and long two-pointed shoes. This is a RARE and beautiful example from the classic banjo period. There is light forward relief present, some hairline cracks in peghead overlay, slight popping of inlay near 3rd string shaft, with light cosmetic wear on some of the wooden parts.
