Pitch-perfect five string conversion banjo, employing a 11-15/16" diameter Tubaphone rim assembly from 1922, with neck made in February of 1972 in Huntsville AL by respected builder Marion Kirk; banjo spent it's first 50 years as a four string, and 53 as a five string! The pot is all original including hardware and pie plate resonator; wooden parts appear to have been oversprayed to match neck at time of build; later armrest and tailpiece. The 27" scale three piece flamed maple neck was built in the correct style with a long back strap, fancy engraved pearlwork throughout, with carved heel. There is some fret wear, and only very light forward relief. Includes gorgeous Lifton hard case. Fiberskin head.
