Inventive early mountain-type banjo bearing no signature or signs of who made it, a lightweight, piece of Americana. Comprised of different native hardwoods, the rim consists of two 9-1/4" rounds for the front and back, united by rounded wooden sides, with a 5" skin head, and circular internal resonator chamber. The neck has a robust V profile with streaky vertical grain, a small square peghead, with roughly a 20" scale length; held together by numerous ancient nails, the banjo has a bright plunky tone, setup with friction pegs. Lots of cracking, scratches, dings, and scuffs present; the neck has some light twist but plays well.
