The Wizard of the Strings, Roy Smeck, had a number of instruments branded with his name. The H-7 was one model released later than the lap steel craze, this example dating to 1969. That said, this example appears unbranded, with no Harmony or Roy Smeck to be found - alas, clearly of the same build ilk.
This instrument has a great sound, thanks to its DeArmond pickup (stamped 1969). Bluesy but still atmospheric, this is a great instrument for any instrumentalist to add to their arsenal. Original cupcake tone knob, and lever volume control work as they should (original pots also dating to '69).
Cosmetically, this has a striking deco design with its tuxedo finish - the lacquer in good shape with some mild nicks and dings present - namely around its second string tuner. The finish has chipped there as the instrument arrived with no button, and a pair of pliers was likely administered when needed.
Includes original hardshell case, with two broken latches - no legs.
