Don't get Schastey with me! Little is known about NYC based banjo makers, partners Schastey and Diesel, and few examples of their work have been found, though build characteristics are not dissimilar from other large-output NY makers like J.H. Buckbee or Ernst Hammig. The rim features a silver-spun exterior, with a wooden internal side wall (decorated with detailed marquetry in multiple patterns), with inlaid maker plaque on dowel stick, and equipped with engraved/notched tension hoop/Kershner repro tailpiece. The mahogany neck has a 26-1/4" scale length, veneer fingerboard, with fancy inlaid pearlwork with notable flaming flower pot of multiple precious materials/metals including pearl and brass, with large flared peghead shape; maker stamp present on reverse of peghead, which is equipped with Champion friction tuners. Forward relief present on neck, but a nice player for nylon strings for classic or folk styles.
