From luthier Donald MacRostie made about 30 years ago in Athens, Ohio, we're stunned by this earlier example from Red Diamond mandolins. Completely hard carved, the fully bound A style body is of highly flamed maple, with a finely grained spruce top; two finely voiced diagonal lateral braces present, with several cleats inside securing center seam on top below bridge; top has good arch to it, with an engraved tailpiece cover, and bound tortoise pickguard; equipped with adjustable ebony bridge, with small rectangular label inside lower F hole. The one piece maple neck has an unbound rosewood fingerboard with 14" scale length, 1-1/4" wide at nut, and is equipped with recent Rubner tuners; slight shrinkage on top edge of peghead overlay, with maker's name and stylized flower pot in pearl. Some light pitting is present on frets, some finish blemishes (back edge on 5 o'clock position, top side, back of peghead), with several dings and surface scratches on top.
