Very early Paramount Style F plectrum made for Paramount endorser Bill Bowen in early 1923; a gorgeous example, with custom elements in its original hard case. The rosewood rim assembly measures 11-1/4" in diameter, features colorful marquetry on the rim cap, and sides, with all gold plated and engraved metal parts including tension hoop, flange, skirt, and tailpiece; unlike anything we've seen before, the top edge of the wooden rim has a flared internal wall, where the raised head tonering sits; rosewood resonator features intricate marquetry lining the sides and back; small chips present on the bottom edge of resonator, lines of surface scratching/checking inside rim joinery inside. The 27" scale multi piece rosewood neck has an elegant avian carved heel, impressed bird on rosewood heel cap, with thick bands of pointed marquetry beneath the fingerboard and pearl inlaid peghead overlay; equipped with original gold plated Page tuners with pearl buttons, relief carving on back of peghead, only moderatly worn thin original frets; extended fingerboard with engraved pearl plaque on end reading "BOWEN". A fantastic player with hardly any relief in neck, the finish is original and looks great, having been well cared for. Includes original twin pocket hard case.
