A lovely and versatile steel, dating back to the early 50's for the National brand. With the widening popularity for the steel slide guitar, players would find themselves in need of alternate tunings - which resulted in the widening of the cabinets and adding a neck one by one. The Grand Console 1052 model sports three 8 string necks upon a wood cabinet. The staggered height design allows the player an easier playing experience for jumping from one to another neck - and with its versatile electronics, the player can select the neck they'd like to use, or simply leave them all on for more adventurous changes. This model features three of the 23 1/8" scale necks, with the clever colored totem pole inlay pattern. The tuxedo finish has a white lacquer body with black accented bakelite covers for the peg heads and bridge. It retains its original screw on connector, but all electronics function just as they should. Sonically, it is a very sweet medium low output tone, nice detail and balance, these sing through any nice tube amp. It plays and functions well, currently with the three necks tuned to a versatile C6, D9 and A13 tuning. All plastics function with one bridge cover having a replaced nut. The tuner buttons have all been replaced, and the tuners function well as they should. Cosmetically, it has some wear on the control plate near its knobs, as well as a fair amount of chipping in the original lacquer finish. Includes original legs and hardshell case. Tunings: C6: ACEGACEG D9: DF#ACEF#AD A13: EC#AF#EC#AG
