A stunning reproduction of the B Bender of Clarence White's guitar and built by the inventor of the B bender and fellow Byrds bandmate Gene Parsons. Pedal steel style bends are quite fun once the player gets used to adapting the strap tension for raising the B tuner a whole step.
Branded "Nashville West" - named after the original band featuring White and Parsons - this one is numbered "44" in pen in its neck pocket - with no further identifiers. Iconic design, it features the 2.5" thick doubled body, with plastic cover on its back side with Cowgirl sticker (quite worn) - all covering up the Patent Numbered String Bender guard and B Bender system. According to it's neck stamp, the neck is from WD, complete with a nice soft V profile full of Birdseye. Copper foil currently obscures any internal body stamps otherwise.
The body has a 60's standard burst finish, complete with two ply tortoise guard. Gold Fender stamped bridge with brass saddles present and looking good with little wear. The electronics shine on this instrument - complete here with two Red Rhodes Velvet Hammer single coils like that on Clarences. The bridge pickup, with three conductor out, the neck with two - this is equipped with a phase switch on a mini toggle between the volume and tone controls. The 4-way switch giving series and parallel options - this is a full fledged tone machine.
The V profile maple neck is nice and straight with a flatter radius and a slightly wider 1 11/16" nut width. Built by WD, with finish over its frets, the frets still nice and clean, the neck is straight with room to move on the truss rod (adjustable at the heel, underneath the fingerboard extension). The action low measuring only about 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret, with a tasteful amount of twang. Gold Kluson Deluxe tuners present and functional, with two Keith style banjo tuners presently installed on the 1st and 6th strings - allowing for quick changes to double drop D.
