The D35 is one of Martins standard models introduces in the 1960s. Played by the likes of Townes Van Zandt and David Gilmore on "Wish You Were Here." This, however, is a special D35. The D25S is a Brazilian Rosewood body with three piece back and D 35 appointments. The top is two piece spruce construction, selected for both tone and beauty. What makes a D25S special is the slotted head, 1 7/8' at the nut, and mahogany neck joined to the unique folk style Dreadnoughtesque body at the 12th fret giving it a 25.4" scale length. African ebony bridge and fingerboard. The bridge plate is made of rosewood. Lacquer finish, polished to a mirror like gloss. The tuners are heavy duty waffle style grovers. At some point, this guitar had a new pick guard put on it. You can see that the plastic shrink is still on the replaced guard. There is also an extra hole on the bottom right above the end pin hole where a pick up had been installed. On the top of the guitar there is a normal amount of finish checking and some light wear on the finish around the neck area. There are also a few small dings towards the bottom. The back and sides are in amazing condition with very minimal scuff and scratches. There is some wear present inside the slotted headstock likely due to strings scratching the insides during restringing throughout the years. Comes with original hard shell case. This is the perfect guitar for folk finger style playing. The nut spacing also makes for a very comfortable guitar for a classical guitarist wanting to play some steel string. Grab it before it's gone!
