The Martin 00 size is a favorable finger style player, with a smaller body design - and seen here in it's mahogany, "17" style, charm. The full mahogany construction is a favorable tone amongst players looking for something a little different. With a light, warm yet bright and balanced tone, it has a midrange forward voice, with well defined basses and smooth trebles. This example dates to 1958, and comes to us in good condition, with an overspray, and a newer hardshell case.

This example, as mentioned has a glossy overspray from a past life, which overall likely kept the instrument pretty well preserved. There is one repaired back crack present, that's been sealed. The top is free of cracks or any structural repairs, and has some checking and otherwise simple dings present. Internally, this has a standard light x bracing pattern, with the original thin maple bridge plate present. The bridge appears to have been reglued at some point, but overall looks correct, with a nice tall and otherwise saddle present - the saddle stands about 8/64" visible above the slot. It has replaced bridge pins.

The neck yields a nice comfortable low action, currently measuring 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret on the sixth string, and about 4/64" on the trebles. It is likely that this guitar had a neck reset, albeit a very well done one that yielded these results. The fingerboard is in great condition, but it appears likely that the guitar may have been re-fretted with the slots cut a bit deeper than the fret themself - a typical sign, but for this era, not really a dead giveaway. Original tuners present with cream buttons functioning just as they should. The neck has a typical profile for this era, which feels like a thicker soft V. In the open position it measures .88" in thickness at the first position. It has a standard 25" scale length, with a 1 11/16" nut width.

A nice robust small body guitar, in good fighting shape ready for its next stage or record - priced well for the right player.

Weighs 3.3lbs.
