Luthier Mark Bluett of York PA builds some exceptional instruments - and certainly did a fine job on this Irish Bouzuki. Mark has built masterful bouzoukis, in a wide range of styles, and using a wide range of different woods and materials. A number of years ago Mark repaired a bouzouki and immediately fell in love, this example dating to 2013.
Constructed with a nice wide grained spruce top, and some very figured koa for the back and sides, Bluett made a really nice looking and sounding instrument - with a nice full resonant tone that has a lot of volume and tonal complexity. Fully bound, it has a classic double point style body that measures a hair over 3" deep, with a large 12.5" lower bout. Suitable for nice deep rich chordal work, or for single note melody playing, it is an inspiring and well made boutique instrument.
The neck, constructed out of mahogany with an ebony fingerboard, is also bound, and designed with a 26" scale length. Only one owner, it comes to us in great condition with hardly any signs of wear. The neck is straight with clean frets and low action. It has a 1 11/132" nut width.
Comes with a nice poly foam case.
