Constructors of fine guitars, the LoPrinzi name is well regarded in the world of flat-tops, for excellent design and build execution, that results in a fairly timeless looking guitar with a big sound. The LR-15-12 is a nicely made Spruce/Rosewood 12 string model, featuring all solid construction, an x braced top with ladder braced back, and seen here with a neck that joins the body at the 14th fret. Made in Plainsboro NJ, and stamped at its heel block with a 37XX serial number, it stands to reason that this is post 1975, an era where the family brand would be under ownership of AMF.
Power and definition are words that come to mind strumming this guitar as it sits. The rosewood offers a nice complex and powerful tone that otherwise is not too common for instruments from this era that don't break the bank. It plays well for now especially at the first position but could use some help (more below).
This guitar arrives to us in good shape, cosmetically clean with some "neglect" wear throughout. The bridge has bellied the body a bit, typical for most 12 strings from this era. A tall saddle, one might consider lowering to alleviate some of the string height. The action currently measures right on 8/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the 6th string course, and 6/64" for the 1st string course. Ideally this guitar could use a neck reset, but it's not unplayable at those measurements - a course of action best left to its next owner, and priced accordingly. The neck is in good condition with an appropriate amount of relief. The frets are clean with little wear, the edge of the fingerboard shows some wear in its finish just from time. The neck profile having a more D shape to it, has a little bit of wear from having rested likely against a desk in its past, some discoloration possibly from an old capo. Its original 6 in a line Grover waffle tuners all function as they should. A 25 3/8" scale length and a standard 1 7/8" nut width.
This is a very nice guitar that in the right hands will be a super player.
Includes hardshell case.
