Here is a nice American violin. It was made in the late 19th century in Ceylon, OH by A. L. (or possibly N. L.)Fox. We have not found any information about this maker. It has a wide grain, spruce top and exceptionally figured maple back, sides and neck. The top and back are arched. Body measures 35.5 cm (14"). Weight with chinrest is about 511 grams. A thin shim has been added under the fingerboard. Great playablility and sound. Perfect for fiddling or for the Ohio violin collector. Signed and dated inside. Set up and ready to go.
