The leader in value - Kay!
Here we have what appears to be an early 60's Kay Value Leader acoustic archtop. It is constructed with a nice laminate Spruce top, and laminate Maple back and sides (with a decent flame!). Fully bound, and with a cherry burst - it would make a great entry level instrument, or addition for the budding collection.
The lower bout measures 15.5" across, with a depth of 3.75" at the base end, and 3.25" toward the heel. Cosmetically it has some nicks and dings, but structurally is in sound condition. Original hanger tailpiece, the bridge is currently bottomed out.
The neck is designed with 25.5" scale length and a nut width slightly more narrow than a 11/16". The neck is fully bound with a very clubby profile - favorable for those who like the vintage style. The neck does show some forward relief, albeit with its low original frets (which near on Fretless wonder). That said, the action is still playable, measuring about 7/64" in height at the twelfth fret. This could make a nice project for any aspiring luthier who wants to take on a neck reset.
Includes a simple bottom loader leather bag.
