Fantastic sounding large pot Whyte Laydie No. 2 conversion utilizing "golden era" components and near perfect reproduction neck by the late John Gough. The 11-15/16" diameter rim assembly dates to 1906 as Vega was ramping up Fairbanks production post 1904 fire, with a maple rim, scalloped Whyte Laydie/Electric tonering, grooved tension hoop, bracket band, original No Knot tailpiece; some chips present on interior tortoise binding, with light ware on plating, some tarnish, scratching on wooden parts; the skin head shows wear and tear, with some variety of finish applied to face. The reproduction neck by John Gough was brilliantly executed, with three piece maple construction, slightly flared heel, ebony heel cap and fully bound 26-1/4" scale fingerboard, No. 2 style engraved pearlwork (some tracing gone on board inlays), with lovely gryphon on ebony peghead overlay; equipped with Rickard geared tuners w/ wood buttons; 1-5/16" wide nut. Light cosmetic wear on neck (surface scratching/impressions. Includes gig bag
