In the land of lawsuit era guitars, Ibanez stack up quite high - having produced some of the finest Gibson copies in the late 1970's. This L series, electric spanish style guitar truly looks the part, down to a stunning tailpiece - but sonically this guitar is completely impressive. The body has a 16 1/8" lower bout, with a depth of 3 3/8". The top, is a thick spruce with a pressed arch that acoustically even has some impressive volume. The back showcases a nice laminate maple - seen here in the always endearing natural finish. It sports two Ibanez Super 70's pickups, which are a slightly brighter take on a classic PAF low output humbucker. It has good balance and could really be quite versatile for living mostly in the "jazz box' realm. Cosmetically, this example is nice and clean, with some light surface wear, and some wear to the binding (that is all intact), mild buckle rash, and a fairly long finish crack at the neck heel. The 24.75" neck is made of three ply maple, with a fully multi ply bound ebony fingerboard with block MOP inlay. The neck has a great angle, yielding excellent playability that measures 5-4/64" in height at the twelfth fret - with plenty of room for adjustment at the bridges thumbscrews. The frets show virtually no wear, the truss rod and tuners functioning just as they should. The neck is speedy and thin - something typical for the era with a slim C profile and a 1 11/16" nut width. Includes original hardshell case.
