A great value archtop! The Kay brand made its name in the 1950's and 60's during the guitar boom. Value instruments, built in the USA - they often compete with instruments in a higher price range. A laminate build, it has a 15.5" lower bout, with a full depth - allowing it to sound great acoustically as well as plugged in through its bluesy retro pancake pickup. The neck has a slightly longer scale, measuring in at about 25.6", the nut width measuring at 1.75". Great action measuring in at 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string, and 5/64" on the first (with some room to move at the bridge thumb screws) makes it a great player. A fairly recent neck set is evident by a small hole underneath the 14th fret in the fingerboard. Very nice work, that is not too commonly seen, it is nice to keep a vintage guitar like this up and running. The neck is nice and straight with clean frets (likely also leveled fairly recently). Cosmetically, this example is cleaner than many you see on the market, with just some slightly scratchy pots (which might want to be replaced), and otherwise light cosmetic wear. Includes a newer hardshell case!
