Orchestra Model, or "OM" sized guitars are likely the most popular of the instruments that come & go through our doors. The comfortable size - broadly speaking, is suitable for all hands, and the sound is generally suitable for both finger style players as well as flat pickers. That said, not all OM model guitars are created equal, and it takes a high attention to detail to create something that is both unique yet classic - which is exactly what Gillander Guitars has done with this OM that is number 006, and dated to just this past year.
A great take on the classic 14 fret OM, this is an expertly crafter instrument featuring a solid Adirondack Spruce top, with scalloped 1/4" X bracing held together in traditional form with hide glue. A Pau Ferro back is ladder braced with mahogany braces. All visible through its unique, modern side sound hole, it has a balanced and vibrant tone, that is really fun as the player - allowing one to make dynamic decisions in their playing. This guitar has a natural and open tone like that on a vintage instrument, with a voice that is balanced and suitable for complex and nuanced playing styles - a nice warm bass response, focused midrange, and singing melody strings - all of which is very easy to play.
The guitar is built with a typical & comfortable 25.4" scale length, and 1.75" nut width. The Mahogany neck is fitted with a nice ebony fingerboard complete with a dual action adjustable truss rod and reinforced by parallel carbon fiber rods. A nice diamond volute, the profile has a nice and smooth C profile, finished with a hand rubbed linseed oil. It plays easy with low action that measures 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string, and 4/64" in height on the first. Wavery tuners and EVO gold fret wire complete this finely made instrument.
Comes with a molded plastic TKL hardshell case, along with a signed care sheet for the instrument.
