The Gibson Skylark GA5-T is from the well regarded “Crestline” series of amplifiers and is one of the last truly great amps that Gibson produced in the early 1960’s. Bright and chimey cleans give way to a beautifully warm tube overdrive as you increase the volume. A throbby tube tremolo with a single knob that doubles as an on/off switch and a rate control rounds front panel controls.
This amp came to us in original condition and was completely overhauled by our in house amp technician. The original two prong power cord was replaced with a 8-foot, grounded power cord. All of the electrolytic capacitors were also replaced, and will keep this amp going for years to come. The original faceplate was unfortunately worn beyond the point of legibility, replacement decals have been added to the most important controls. Half of the amplifier’s badge is also missing, making this a “Son” amp (not to be confused with Sunn…)
The original transformers, tubes, and 1x10” Gibson branded speaker are still present. The tolex and grille clothe are in good shape throughout the rest of the amp.
This would make an excellent recording amp and pairs perfectly with any electric spanish from the same era.
