One of the most iconic acoustic cannons, made popular by the likes of players like Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley & Gillian Welch. The J-45 is and has been a front runner in the Gibson product line for decades, with good reason. Excellent bass response with a lot of volume and a unique more "dry" sound compared to other dreadnaughts - upfront midrange which sits in a mix perfectly, and clear but "dark" treble response - makes this guitar popular amongst every kind of guitarist. We are pleased to feature this example which due to appointments and its 6 digit serial stamp dates accurately to 1962, stamped J-45 ADJ, this one has had its plastic adjustable bridge replaced with a more conventional rosewood option. A fine playing example, it looks good and plays great with nice low action. Spruce top with a Mahogany back - this example has the standard 60's cherry burst finish. Cosmetically the body is in pretty good condition, well loved, it shows only pretty mild nicks and dings and checking throughout. Original maple bridge plate is present and in good shape - a few holes having been filled from the past screws of the plastic bridge. The new ebony bridge is a great upgrade, with a nice bone saddle. The 24.75" scale neck is nice and straight and plays with low action that measure about 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret - the new saddle standing tall above the slot. No evidence of a past neck reset - the neck is nice and straight yielding really great setup, the truss rod functional with room in both directions - it is nearing being fully tightened, but does not require any further movement. Original low profile Gibson frets present, it is not in need for a re fret, as it plays easily with no dead spots, singing in every register. The fingerboard has some light divots at the first position. The "skinny neck" it has a thin C profile that measures only about .80" thick at the first position, and .97" at the tenth before the curvature of the heel. thin 1 19/16 nut width. Kluson Deluxe tuners are present, with original buttons retaining good health, not shrunken.

This is a great playing example from a great era of Gibson. Comes with more recent case.
