Gibson's line of electric basses had gone through changes in hopes of inspiring newer players. The EB-0 was released originally in 1959 to compliment the Les Paul Junior guitar (which as many know would become the SG) - and replace the not-so-popular EB-1 instrument. The more rock & roll aesthetic would go on to succeed for the brand, and become more elaborate into the EB-3 (sporting more pickup options). The simple design of the EB-0 has made it a fun to play instrument, as well as a popular choice amongst players who want the huge boom-y sound that these basses are best known for.
This example comes to us in all original condition, in the original Gibson branded hardshell case. It is constructed with an all mahogany body with a set neck. Original EB-0 "Mudbucker" pickup is present, along with original wiring - the volume control a Centralab pot dated to the second week of '62, the tone unmarked. Original pickup cover is present and installed with a bit of cosmetic wear to the chrome, the original bridge still standing tall. The original mute is included in the case, but is not currently installed. Comfortable 19mm outside string spacing.
The neck is designed with a 30.5" scale length, the profile having a chunky feel and a 1 23/32" nut width (43.3mm). The action is nice and low, the neck straight with clean frets and fingerboard. The action measures a low and comfortable 8/64" in height at the twelfth fret.
