Rarely offered top of the line Gibson offering with desirable specs, 1925 Gibson A-4 model with "Snakehead" peghead shape, adjustable truss rod, with Virzi tone producer, in original hard shell case from Gibson's prime. The fully bound A style body has a finely grained spruce top in sunburst, oval soundhole with ivoroid rosette surrounded between two bands of slanted herringbone marquetry, with a two piece birdseye maple back and sides, with original pickguard, adjustable ebony bridge, and tailpiece with engraved cover; typical cosmetic wear from playing and time (dings, scuffs, scrapes, checking), with some binding shrinkage on back around upper bout, and on lower bout side-bass edge, with a reglued center back seam; top has great arch still; Gibson oval paper label present, Virzi label, with FON and serial numbers present. The 13-7/8" scale maple neck has a fully bound extended ebony fingerboard with moderately worn thin original frets (some pitting and past leveling present), 1-1/8" wide nut width; evocative tapered Snakehead peghead shape, with small slanted Gibson pearl script, and inlaid Fleur-Di-Lis, with original plate tuners.
