Over one hundred and fifteen years old, this is a nice Gibson A-4 model dating from 1910 via FON 1333. Fully bound body with red burst back and side of "Michigan maple", wide grained red burst top with ivoroid rosette trimmed in herringbone; original tailpiece, pickguard, non-adjustable bridge; white label in great shape...FON is faint but present on block; binding shrinkage on back lower bout behind tailpiece, with a couple small separations, lots of play wear present on top. The mahogany neck has the extended ebony fingerboard and is fully bound; equipped with Handel tuners; various dings and scrapes present with later frets; a good player, there is some forward relief present. It appears as though the three piece neck separated at some time at the peghead and was reglued; vertical glue lines present on overlay and backstrap.
