When one looks up Gordon Giltrap, you'll be immediately drawn in by the praise this guitarist has gotten from some of the all time greats. The guitarist, composer is well known for his diverse style and is well regarded in Celtic to Classical to Progressive rock circles.
This Fret King Elise GG signature sports a slightly offset, semi hollow body design. Constructed with a flamed maple cap, and mahogany back. With all Wilkinson hardware, this guitar features a unique and advanced pickup system. The Wilkinson bridge is fitted with a piezo pickup, providing clarity, definition and near acoustic guitar like qualities. Coupling this with its neck P-90 and bridge humbucker - there is a wide variety of tones to be had, sensible for a player like Giltrap. The three lower controls are notched (+/-) EQ controls for the piezo circuit, with a mini toggle to engage the circuit. Master Volume and Tone reside above, with a volume control specifically for the piezo near the toggle switch.
While immediately this guitar goes for the throat of any 335, it does offer up a convincing acoustic tone - and utilizing the blend lets one really play around between the dark P90 neck tone, and the versatility in the piezo. Wooly to thin and chimey, this is a dream for session player who needs a lot of tone on tap.
The set neck is designed with a Gibson standard 24.75" scale length. The rosewood fingerboard is bound, with simple MOP dot inlay, with medium size frets that show virtually no wear. It has a comfortable 1 23/32" nut width. Easy low action measures 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret, with room at the thumb screws for any adjustment. Wilkinson tuners function great and round out this nice instrument.
Cosmetically clean condition with light surface level swirls, and a few smaller nicks present namely behind the bridge.
