In the spring of 1954, in a small shop in Southern California, musical history was made with the introduction and shipment of the first Fender Stratocaster guitar. Everything about the guitar was new and innovative. The tremolo design, the sleek and distinctive body lines, the "Offset Contour" body, and not two - but THREE pickups. Instantly, guitar players from every genre of musical tastes sought out and purchased one of these "futuristic" designed instruments. The first Fender Stratocaster guitars were used for Western swing, Jazz, Blues, Country, and any other style of music guitarist could dream up. You could not contain this design. The Fender Stratocaster was not only ahead of its time; it defined electric guitar design.
Built at Fender's world renowned "Dream Factory" in Corona California, originally for the The Music Zoo - this 50's CS Stratocaster features high quality components and a chunky '56 style roasted quarter sawn maple neck. Unique heavy relic Olympic White nitro finish provides an accurate look of a 70 year old well loved instrument.
Outstanding feel and playability, and really looks and feels like playing a real deal '56. Ash body, complete with worm route, it has some later features like its 8 hole three ply mint green pickguard, knobs + pickup covers, Fender "Pat Pend "Saddles the bridge and screws have also all been nicely aged.
Uniquely, this guitars original pickups & wiring includes a 5 way switch with hand wound pickups - a '69 Underwound in the neck, '65 reverse wound reverse polarity and 60's bridge - all hand labeled on their bottom. The tone is both fat, and bright, with bell like overtones that is completely Stratty - and thanks to the factory S1 control in the volume pot - the player can easily unlock series or parallel tones.
The neck sporting an authentic U feeling profile, has a 50's style heft measuring a whopping thickness of .97" at the first position tapering up to 1" at the twelfth (of course with the correct 25.5" scale and 1.65" nut width). Medium jumbo 6150 fret wire, and a 9.5" radius are fine upgrades to the players out there. Nice smooth feeling, the finish was taken down at the factory. While there is no name written at the heel or pocket, it is initialed "TF". The neck is nice and straight with low action that measures 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret of the sixth string, and 4/64" on the first - with the tremolo floating at about a whole step.
