One of the less celebrated, but still excellent, amplifiers of the classic Fender catalog - the Princeton Amp. The AA964 is very notable for being incredibly clean for its low wattage, unlike its Reverb-y younger brother. This is due to the Reverb models having an additional gain stage in its preamp section - resulting in more volume, and "drive" into the amp. The non-reverb Princeton is a clean machine by comparison, which makes it a great choice for anyone looking for those sparkly Fender clean tones in a small package. These amps are commonly seen in the studio, with their size, volume, and tonal versatility making them ideal for recording.

This Princeton is the cleanest we have ever seen, and comes to us in excellent condition. The faceplate is spotless, and could easily be mistaken for a brand new amplifier. The grille cloth has virtually no discoloration at all, and is bright and sparkly - like new. The tolex is in excellent shape, with a very small rip in the front on the bottom, and some minor rippling on the sides of the cabinet.

Inside the chassis is like a time capsule back to 1966, and features a full set of original electronics and wiring, completely untouched. A modern 3-prong power cord is the only addition, and was expertly installed.

On the left of the chassis is a small piece of tape signed “Josie Velasquez”, which is completely intact and unfaded over the years. Fender employed a workforce of Mexican women, who wired many of their amps in the early days. These signatures are a familiar sight in tweed amps from the 1950’s, but very rarely present in an amp from the 1960’s.

The tubeset is a fine selection of NOS tubes including Mullard, RCA, and an Amperex Bugle Boy. The original Red and Gold, Fender branded, Jensen Speaker is present and is in perfect shape.

An original Victoria Luggage Co. black leather “Princeton Reverb” cover is included in the sale. It is in very good condition and a perfect fit, having protected the amp for the past 50 years.
