Gorgeous F. J. Bacon Special Grand Concert model; stunning original classical banjo appears to have been made by Lange, having hallmarks of Orpheum banjos but old vestiges of the Vega company remain in the form of the fancy engraved heel cap and back of the peghead inlay. The white holly neck has a 28 inch scale with very fancy mother of abalone inlay in peghead and fingerboard; the carved heel is particularly unusual and extends to the 12th fret; pearwood fretboard with some binding shrinkage. The hollow, maple, 11-1/2 inch rim has twelve f holes and tonering, with bound pearwood back, and band of marquetry on the outer edge. The tuners are original and gold plated with mother of pearl buttons. A nice playing example with only light forward relief.
