We originally sold this banjo directly from esteemed maker Douglas Unger back in 2005, and are delighted to see its return, the second of a series of banjos inspired by the dogwood inlayed Regent banjos of the A. C. Fairbanks Company, both extremely rare and sought after by players and collectors. The rim is an original 1922, 10-3/4 inch Tubaphone Style M pot, featuring all original hardware including bracket band, notched tension hoop, but for a repro No Knot tailpiece; Vega stamps and Unger's engraved pearl plaque present on dowel; light wear on back of pot, one bent hook, and added floral embellishments present drawn on head. Fitted with a stunning 26" scale mahogany neck, with carved heel in the style of the classic Tubaphone No. 3, with simpler inlay however finely engraved inlay on board, with a large dogwood flower in the peghead. The neck has a 1-5/16" nut width, beefy profile, and is fully bound with scalloped nut; some light wear is present on back around center lamination, mildly worn frets; the neck is straight however set at a steep original angle, providing for "frailing" action (profile could be recut, shims could be added). Includes Eastman "Double Bump" reproduction hard case
