All original example from Henry C. Dobson that represents one of the earliest patents for a resonator and top-tension banjo with wooden tension hoop; retrofitted with Peghed geared banjo tuners for exceptional ease of tuning/playability. The rim assembly measures 13" across the diameter of the 2-3/4" deep resonator, and about 9-7/8" across the actual head; mahogany rim assembly, with lots of waving/surface wear and checking, with rosewood tension hoop; tailpiece appears original, with brass top tension hardware also present. The mahogany neck is setup with a 25" scale length, remarkably large heel w/ Dobson patent stamp, 1-7/16" wide nut width below fancy shaped peghead, with lots of surface scratching on back of neck and on board. Incredibly rich, uniquely 19th century banjo tone....time machine!
