JUST ARRIVED: In the world of guitars, there are some brand names that come to mind that defined a genre or a style of playing. "Dobro" has become synonymous with acoustic lap slide playing to many guitarists all over the world. Needless to say, during the 1980's guitar boom, it only makes sense that the acclaimed brand would take on building a more staple, traditional electric guitar. With a look that could fit anywhere between hard rock to electric folk - this EC3 is quite the rare bird and unique electric.
A beautiful laminate finish over a strat-esque double cut body with 25.5" neck thru design.
Two original Dimarzio humbucker pickups with typical Volume Tone for each. These have a hot output and likely are Super Distortions, suitable for all kinds of music or players that prefer that type of sensitivity. Three original pots indicate a likely early 1981 build.
Cosmetically the finish has held up fairly well in its 40+ years, but does have some small nicks, dings and buckle rash (see photos). The neck will require some work by its next owner - the original frets needed to be better seated in the upper registers, notable on the bass side. A bit of buzz throughout. While this isn't too much of a job, it might be worthy consideration to explore different truss rod options as the truss rod is fairly maxed out and resonant in its cavity. The neck is straight and the action is playable with hardly any wear to its frets or ebony fingerboard. The neck has a bit more chunk to it, measuring .84" thick at the first position and tapering up to .92" at the twelfth fret. It has a 1 9/16" nut width.
