From the collection of Akira Tsumura and featured on page 134 of his book, 1001 Banjos. This highest grade "Electric" has all the elements of a custom ordered instrument. Most "electrics" we have owned had rather thin necks and a few earlier "electrics" had the scalloped metal tonering pointing downwards. This banjo appeared just before the Whyte Lady was introduced. It has a large rim, very hefty neck, and the downward facing tonering, The No. 6 was the highest grade banjo produced at the time, until the introduction of the Whyte Laydie No. 7. With its 28" scale mahogany neck and 12’ rim, it is a beast of an instrument for the most discerning classical (or any other style) players/collector.
