This banjo model was named for the son of the maker...A. C. Fairbanks's son Curtis was said to be a prodigy player of the classic style. It has a mahogany neck with a 26-3/4” scale ebony fretboard with attractively engraved pearl inlay. The peghead tuners are the original grained ivoroid with "beaded buttons". Original patent tailpiece is present. The banjo has a 11-7/8" diameter spunover rim with the "Curtis Electric" tone ring which is comprised of a brass hoop which sits atop a series of 3/16" rods, which sit inside of a steel hoop. All original hooks and nuts are present. This banjo is set up with a Renaissance head and Nylgut strings. This banjo has a warm round tone that is excellent for classic, finger style playing. Some tarnish is present, with a hairline separation on inside of pot near dowel stick from stress/early neck hardware.
