The RED BOOK by Akira Tsumura. We have uncovered a few, new unsold copies of the very first banjo book by Akira Tsumura entitled Banjos: The Tsumura Collection. This 1984, limited edition, all color book with the red slipcover has some of the finest banjos in the world pictured between its covers. This special edition was intended to be given as gifts for important customers and friends. It comes in its own hard box and has a supplement written in Japanese. The book includes sections on Jazz age banjo as well as classic, Victorian era instruments featuring Bacon, Gibson, Vega, Epiphone, Paramount, Stromberg, Ludwig, Leedy, Slingerland, Majestic, Fairbanks, S. S. Stewart, Dobson Cole, Schall and Washburn. There are also sections on banjo ukes, ukuleles, banjo ephemera, and early catalogs. There is separate sections displaying the collection of James Bollman and the minstrel era banjos from the collection of Reuben Reubens. There is a section on original banjo patents also.
