Charming, probably mid-century conversion of a 1930 Bacon Supertone four string to five utilizing a high quality mahogany neck built in the style of the original. The Supertone line was made by Bacon for distribution in the Sears & Roebuck catalog, and resemble lower end Bacon instruments from the era. The eleven inch diameter rim assembly has a silver painted interior with no tone ring (bevel edge), mahogany exterior with band of maple (plug hole from past mute present), with original hardware (repro Oettinger tailpiece); original resonator with clover-leaf flange/rosewood exterior; some light scratching/restoration to rim. The mahogany neck has a 26-1/4" scale rosewood fingerboard w/ 1-1/4" wide nut width; overlay is probably from original neck; peghead has an interesting volute/taper on reverse; equipped with offset tab Grover tuners w/ friction fifth. An easy playing banjo with a nice straight neck.
