Built around the end of 1939 ten years after the model was introduced in 1929, we are pleased to offer for sale a tenor example of the Sultana #1 model, made by the Bacon Banjo Co. The rim assembly appears completely original, with golden pearloid exterior side wall and resonator skin, with replated (and shiny) metal parts; equipped with Knee Mute, Oettinger tailpiece, and armrest; Silver paint present on inside of rim and resonator back; two-step flange w/ f clover leaf cutouts. The neck also features a pearloid fingerboard and peghead overlay, with simple engravings; frets appear to be slightly later, with mild pitting on treble strings. Condition wise the banjo is in nice structural condition with no apparent breaks, though there is notable finish touchup on reverse of neck, likely securing worn stain beneath; equipped with original Planets w/ Catalin buttons. Nice playing example, setup with low action and full height bridge. Includes original hard case, top held on w/ duct tape.
