John Backlund partnered with Eastwood to create a few series of very retro-futuristic stylized instruments over the last decade. These limited releases are certainly head turners and truly well playing versatile instruments. The Model 100 is a near surfboard looking solid body - "sleek" doesn't do it enough justice. A Blue metallic finish coupled with an aged cream, the look is topped off with a decorative oversized control plate - which hosts heavy duty simple hardware setup in a Telecaster-esque package. The neck pickup is a high output, single coil sized blade pickup which has balance and definition - the bridge with a thick full range humbucker. Sonically speaking, this guitar knows no genre. A neck thru design, carries on the sleek-ness of the instrument, with easy access to the upper register, with a deep offset style cutaway (if one can call it that). The 24.75" scale length compliments the size of the guitar well, and it plays easily in every register. The profile has a slim C feel to it, the rosewood fingerboard appearing in hardly used condition with clean frets. A true head turner that is certain to inspire everyone who picks it up.
