Recently retired, Robert Abrams made a number of very fine mandolin family instruments under the Trillium brand based in New Hampshire. A nice attention to detail, Abrams builds are forward thinking without reinventing the wheel.
This particular example, serial number 286 is constructed with a fine Red spruce top, internally with a three tone bar ladder bracing pattern. The back & sides are constructed out of stunning flamed Koa with a nice marquetry back strip. A light clear lacquer finish, it has plenty of resonance, which is aided by an internal light weight metal rod that joins the heel joint to the end block. A custom Bill James tailpiece engraved with Trilliums name compliments the single non adjustable ebony bridge well - currently setup beautifully.
The neck is designed with a 22.5" scale length and a 1 7/16" nut width, constructed with out of mahogany with a fully bound ebony fingerboard with MOP dot inlay. The frets show no wear, and this is a very easy to play instrument. The neck is straight with a two way truss rod that is fully functional. The action measures a low 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret.
Includes original Cedar Creek hardshell case.
