Bernunzio’s on the big screen!
Sam Snyder, as always, trustworthy and dependable manning the table
My grandson, Rocco John Bernunzio threw out the first pitch and got the mascot, Spikes to autograph the ball
With my brothers, Pat and Tom… with the appropriate T-shirts
Gavin Rice did masterful job playing all the music on the one and only 1931 Gibson All American original five string flathead banjo. This was the most expensive instrument that the Gibson Company of Kalamazoo, MI made before WWII. When the Super-400 guitar was $400…..this instrument cost $550.
Hickory Street Banjos displayed their great, locally made instruments
My son-in-law José wore this shirt supporting the Pacific Coast league
We raised $350 for Rochester Ecology Partners, a fantastic, homegrown organization
SUMMERTIME FUN
August 5th, 2024
Good mornings folks,
Our "Baseball and Banjos" event was a great success and I want to publicly thank all those involved for making this happen, including the all of the banjo players (especially our star, Gavin Rice), Ben Lukacher of the Rochester Red Wings management, my dear wife, Julie who attended to all the details, and all our friends and family who came to the game. Perhaps we should take this to a few other international league parks around the Northeast….there are teams in Buffalo, Syracuse, Scranton PA and Worcester, MA. Let’s plan for next year!!
I am including many pictures and cutting "John’s Corner" a little short this week. Julie and I are going to spend some time down in our tin cottage in Branchport, New York and the boys have been willing to let us stay away from the store until Saturday. There will be gardening and fishing and cooking and swimming…not necessarily in that order.
With peace,
John Bernunzio
…and for those keeping score, the Rochester Red Wings came from behind and won the game in the bottom of the 10th inning 3 - 2!
Julie in the garden
A perfect eggplant Parmesan
Fresh fields….
We closed the weekend with a cocktail on the lake
