July 17, 2023 - A WEEK FULL OF WORK AND PLAY
This 20 inch 4.5 pound lunker was the tastiest fish I ever cooked. Thanks to Franklin for filleting it perfectly.
Barbara Schnepf let’s her husband Henry get her sombrero straight before her shot of tequila!!
I used my mobility cart to get around the zoo and my granddaughter, Olive, just had to ride along. I told her parents later on that evening, that if, at 16 years old, she takes off with a motorcycle guy. It’s gonna be all my fault!
Aunt Rose joined in the fun at the zoo here with grandson. Rocco.
The auction netted us several nice fiddles, a great Vega mandola… But Julie also added a few furniture finds because we didn’t have enough at our house!
While we were at the auction, we met a guy who had this guitar and we went to his store in Bath New York and purchased it. A lovely 1966 Fender Mustang…. accompanied by a beautiful’59 blonde!
Well, sometimes I just can’t help myself!
A WEEK FULL OF WORK AND PLAY
July 17th, 2023
Hello friends,
The past week has been one of the busiest I have had in years. Julie and I had made a bit of a plan to work a little less and we’re going to take off on Saturday but as things would have it, life took a few different turns.
On Monday I went fishing with my friend Franklin and landed two very nice small mouth bass which ended up becoming the centerpiece of a completely "locavore" meal accompanied by local potatoes, corn, squash and Swiss chard from our garden. Tuesday found us celebrating birthday of Julie’s beloved mother, Barbara Schnepf, at Casa Mezcal in Penn Yan. They treated her royally ending the dinner with a sombrero and a shot of tequila. I hope I can do that at 88!
We headed to Rochester on Wednesday, a day earlier because we had planned to take Saturday off and relax. We also "captured" a few of our grandkids on Thursday and took them to the zoo. Before we left, we happened to pick up a "Southern Tier Shopper’s Guide" in Penn Yan and caught wind of a musical instrument auction which of course we had to attend. So we spent a couple of days at the store, took the kids to the zoo and on Saturday we headed off to a country auction. The few days at work, we caught up with some old friends, and also made some new friends with Eastman School summer camp students who we promptly infected with "banjo" wisdom. The zoo was a hoot, work was exhilarating and the auction was a crowning touch of the week. I’ve added a lot of pictures with comments to sort of fill in the details of what happened. I hope that by sharing them, you could partake in a little bit of the great week that we had. We will be spending this week cataloging lots of new, old stuff.
Sincerely,
John Bernunzio

Eastman summer camp student invasion. In actuality, it was on Wednesday and we weren’t really open but all these kids were standing outside with their noses pressed against the window so I let them in…. And then I taught them all about the banjo!
A beautiful farm on the way home.
