Speaking of building bridges, we will be having these available soon. They are copies of both the early Wm. Cole banjo style bridge for classic playing and the Bacon "never slip" bridge which would be suitable for any style. These are being made for us by the great fellows at Hickory Street Banjos and they will be available soon on our website for an extremely reasonable price!

Our side door gives interesting images of me at two very different points in my life. The little drawing on the right that became our very first logo, was done in 1975 by the mother of my two oldest children and the photograph of me was done 40 years later.

My octogenarian friend! We spent the day together this week touring around like we did in the "olden days". But beware, Jimmy Spampinato, now has graduated from a "flip phone" to an iPhone and has joined the information highway….

CONNECTING WITH THE COMMUNITY AND BUILDING BRIDGES

February 26th, 2024

Good morning friends,

My little bachelorhood was extended by a bit. As Julie boarded the plane to return home from Cancun with our daughters, she was "bumped" and had to spend another night in Mexico and two days getting home. Everyone was worried, but I knew that my Julie could certainly take care of herself. She allows me to track her on her phone so I could tell that she was at a good hotel, with a pool….and I could tell she was standing near the Margaritaville bar! She didn’t arrive home until midnight on Saturday and I had to drive in from Penn Yan on Sunday to pick her and the dogs up from daughter Rose’s house and bring them back home. Now, Julie and I have worked side-by-side for 40 years and we are seldom apart. She is my sounding board. The person who I depend upon to find out whether my ideas make any sense or not. She’s my inspiration and she’s my proofreader. I’m so glad my bachelorhood has finally come to an end!

One of the most interesting parts of owning your own business is the opportunity to be creative. Thinking of new ways to do business and new products to carry and ways to get your name out entails all the creativity one might draw on. And, of  all the ideas we have had, the ones that are most creative are also the ones that are most successful. So it is with much excitement we announce that we have signed a contract with the Rochester Red Wings and we will be presenting "BANJOS and BASEBALL’ on July 31st at a 1 o’clock in the afternoon game. We will have lots of Bernunzio Uptown Music giveaway gear as well as performing both the "Star-Spangled Banner" and "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" on the banjo in front of the crowd. We will have banjo players greeting the fans as they come into the stadium, a demonstration and instruction booth and I will be throwing out the first pitch (with the help of my grandsons) as well as sitting in the announcer booth, talking about America’s, greatest traditions! We will be selling tickets for the game at a discount price at the store and online. The builders of the local Hickory Street Banjos have generously offered to donate a banjo for an auction, with the proceeds going to a charity to be named soon. This is an exciting event, and we are really looking forward to it and we will spell out more details in the days to come. Next stop Cooperstown!

We opened the doors in 2006 to be become part of the community and we will stay  part of this community until we close the doors on the last day.

With peace,

John Bernunzio

The ride in was cold and steam rose from the ground as the temperatures have gone from one extreme to the other. It was 55° one day and 15° the next.
