The Blue Ridge Country Ramblers have a long history as Rochester’s premier traditional bluegrass band. Formed around 1957, the Ramblers still include two original members, banjoist Jerry “J.S.” Schneider and guitaristRay Bigelow, plus mandolinist Bob Olyslager and bass player Dale Anderson. Their repertoire is straightforward, hard-driving, no-frills bluegrass, both vocal and instrumental –– from masters like Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, the Osborne Brothers, and the Country Gentlemen, as well as newer songs and tunes. If you enjoy the uncompromising Southern mountain sound of acoustic bluegrass, played by pickers immersed in the style for decades, you’ll love the Blue Ridge Country Ramblers.
