An exceptional mandolin though unbranded with amazing resonance, featuring double spruce tops, and highly flamed maple back and sides; this instrument shows Vega construction hallmarks/serial number of top of peghead, with cutout "Bacon Professional" from catalog affixed to lateral cross brace; exceptional resonance and sustain. The flat back body features a light honey stained hue, with a delicately grained spruce top (lateral bracing pattern), with fantastic double-top made from a slightly wider grained single piece of spruce (not braced); high grade appointments include rosewood binding, delicate layers of marquetry trimming the top, with even more intricate rosette around bound oval soundhole, and inset ebony pickguard above bridge with very fancy decorative floral pearl inlay; equipped with lovely engraved Waverly cloud tailpiece cover, with moveable ebony bridge. The one piece maple neck has a 14" scale extended ebony fingerboard, with pearl position dots at fifth & tenth frets (where neck meets body), with engraved diamonds on seven and twelve; 1-1/8" diameter nut width, thin original frets, with rosewood peghead overlay, inset geared tuners with ivoroid buttons; nice volute. In overall fantastic shape, pitting is present on the original frets, with a filled hairline separation on board, with only light forward bow/a bit of height on the extension; surface wear is present on the top, with some tiny hairline separations around pickguard, cosmetic scratching/checking, with no other structural repairs present. Included in sale is original bottom loading black leather case
