Often, players will deem "Dreadnaught's as flat-picking guitars" & "OM's as finger-picking guitars" - and for good reason! These body types function well for those styles of playing, with the tonal aspects of the guitar being augmented by how much energy is fed into the strings - not to mention the simple comfort of the technique being utilized. Where does that leave guitarists who want "one guitar that can do everything?". Taylor introduced the GA model to their product line up in 1994, essentially as a players work horse guitar - both comfortable and stylistically appropriate for strumming or picking gigs. The wide 15 7/8" lower bout, with a tighter waist sits and feels quite like a dreadnaught and an OM combined, and sonically achieves a fantastic mix of the two elements we love about these classic guitar body shapes.
This GA-K model dates to 2007, and has the looks AND the sounds. Constructed with a solid spruce top and Koa back & sides - this guitar is visually elegant, and sonically impressive. A fantastic balance of sound, this guitar has opened up nicely over its years, with hardly any wear to speak of. It has impressive volume, and sings in every register, making it a really great choice for any player. Fully bound Ivoroid top and back with a nice abalone on the top with the rosette, and beautiful flamed koa, this guitar presents stunningly and deserves to be on stage. Only very mild surface wear is present near its end pin, purely superficially.
The neck plays just as we like a good Taylor to, and is designed with a 25.5" scale length and standard 1.75" nut width. The satin profile of the neck has gotten a natural sheen to it in the last 15 or so years, and feels great, and is nice and straight yielding low action that measures 6/64" on the bass side height at the twelfth fret, and 4.5/64" in the trebles (basically the original factory spec). The frets are clean with no wear, and the ebony fingerboard and inlay look fabulous. Original gold Taylor tuners look good and function as they should.
Comes with the original paisley hardshell case!
