Highly regarded, the Seventy Seven guitar brand from Nagano Japan produced very fine handmade instruments at reasonable price points with the players in mind. This example of their Exurbato Jazz model, pulls quite a bit from the Gibson catalog featuring the looks of a 335 - but as a thinline full hollow (sort of like a 330). Handmade construction, it has a great voice that is nice and resonant - singing beautifully through its upgraded OX4 PAF clones. A nicely lacquered red finish looks the part, and is complete with a unique dual rope and tortoise shell binding. A nice modern hanger tailpiece with a decorative ebony fitting with MOP inlay. It has a black AB1 style bridge that is fully adjustable and in good shape with plenty of room for adjustment. As mentioned, this guitar has some *very* nice pickups - the Carter branded OX4's by Mark Stow are being used by just about every player who wants to nail the sound of a real deal PAF - something that compliments this guitar beautifully - allowing for great articulation, string balance and definition. Cosmetically, this guitar is very clean with some light wear present, but nothing too notable aside from a deeper scratch that does not penetrate the finish near the knobs, and some light wear in the fingerboard. The neck is made with a nice 5 piece maple/ebony construction, the fingerboard fully bound in tortoise shell with an ebony fingerboard - hosting some massive frets. The neck has a thicker C feel, measuring .9" at the first position tapering up to about .98" at the twelfth - coupled with an otherwise standard Gibson feeling 1 23/32" nut width and standard 24.75" scale length. The neck is straight with a functioning truss rod, the action measuring a light 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret. Black Kluson style tuners round out this fine player!
