Exceptionally clean Universal Favorite ca. 1897 that we last sold in 2005, featuring an unusual floral peghead inlay in pearl, a mid priced, all around player's banjo from the factory of the famed, Philadelphia maker. The standard nickel plated spun over rim assembly has an 11" diameter, with all original hardware and metal parts including 1894 patent adjustment rod, and Common Sense tailpiece (missing rosette); all stamps and plaques present; hairline separation at dowel near endpin inside with two tiny dowels through side..extremely solid repair. The unadorned 27" scale cherry neck has an ebony fingerboard with diamond pearl fretmarkers, 1-1/4" wide nut, with thin original frets that amazingly show hardly any wear; very pretty unique pearl peghead inlay, original Champion friction tuners with grained ivoroid buttons; all original outfit apart from plastic head. Includes later chipboard case
