An early (pre-1867) Martin size 2 style 27 parlor guitar with lovely sound and aesthetic, fully ready for the next 150 years. Features gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back and sides, spruce top; period material appointments include binding, block strip; pearl soundhole rosette, elaborate marquetry trim on top, with herringbone backstrip; later pyramind bridge made from ebony, reproduction ebony bridge pins with abalone inserts; early X bracing pattern, bridge plate appears original; 18-3/8" overall length, 12-1/8" lower bout, 3-3/8" upper bout; thin cracks on sides in upper bout area and on back lower bout have been glued, with lots of play wear on top, dings, scratches and extremely light belly. The neck was made from cedar, has an 24.5" scale ebony fingerboard bound in period material, 1-13/16" nut width, and is equipped with original Jerome engraved brass tuners w/ original buttons made from period materials (brass vs silver was the main distinction between a Style 27 vs 30); past refret evident, with "CF Martin, NY" stamp present on back of peghead. An easy guitar to play, 19th century V neck profile, with typical dings, scuffs, and scrapes throughout (some roughness present on either side of back strip), missing end pin (chips around hole).
