The Guild Starfire was the answer to the classic hollow/semi hollow body instruments from Gibson. A familiar yet unique body design, the Starfire line of instruments are a fantastic answer for anyone looking for a budget friendly vintage instrument that can certainly hang with the best of them - this example dating likely to early 1970 with a "latter" '69 style serial number, and a Hoboken NJ label.
This Starfire Bass II model features the two original pickups in the standard black finish. Cosmetically, this bass has a fair amount of real relic'ing, but nothing off putting. The finish has real checking present, and some wear through its black lacquer near the pickup rings (from play), buckle rash, and some light wear in the neck profile. The double hum bucking pickups are fantastic and give nice definition and thump. The neck pickup offers a rounder darker tone one would expect, and the bridge almost with a Jazz bass aggression makes for a suitable candidate for a myriad of players. The original choke still installed, all works as it should albeit a hair scratchy. Standard 30" scale length is comfortable for most players. The frets show plenty of life, with very minimal wear present. The original reverse gear tuners present and fully functional.
