A fine guitar from the famous Hoboken era of Guild - the "Freshman" M-65 or simply "M-3/4" model is an excellent small body guitar for someone with smaller hands or the appropriate collector. High quality laminate Spruce top is coupled with a Stained Mahogany back & sides, similar to the guitars Gibson was producing at the time. A factory installed DeArmond pickup has stood the test of time and become well known for its articulate tone that compliments the hollow body. This example comes to us in great fighting shape, at the slight expense of some of its original parts. The original logo has long worn away. Replaced tailpiece, knobs, and tuners present. Cosmetically and structurally this guitar is in good shape overall, with only mild wear in the lacquer, and expected checking present. The binding has shrunk a bit which is noticeable in a small gap near the output jack - and the separation at the treble side waist. The neck is straight with low frets, which play pretty effortlessly and subtle wear. The action is currently at a low 4/64" in height at the twelfth fret, and still has room on the thumb screws at the saddle. The neck profile is in good shape with some nicks and bruises but nothing too annoying for the fretting hand. The nut is a bit more narrow at 1 77/128" (or as any sane human would say, a bit slimmer than 1 5/8"), but it feels comfortable with its C profile which measures about .86" thick at the first position and about 1" at the twelfth. 22.75" scale.
