The Gibson A Junior mandolin, produced from 1921-30, appearing from the company's Junior line of instruments that offered "characteristic Gibson tone, quality, and construction at popular prices". The unbound oval body has a wide-grained spruce top with good arch, and dark stained back and sides of birch; well equipped with a simple Waverly tailpiece, non-adjustable bridge, and patent pickguard & clasp from the preceding decades; added ebony endpin and strap button on treble side of heel. The one piece neck has a 14" scale ebony fingerboard w/ 1-3/8" wide nut with chunky V profile on back; original geared tuners function as they should. Lots of honest play wear, scratching present, as well as sanding/finish added around heel indicating past neck reset possible. Indeed, this is one of the better playing Juniors we've come across, with low/medium action, and thin period fret wire (possible refret). Sweetness and chop! Includes hard shell case.
